Indian engineering outfit Fieldmarshal P.M. Diesels Pvt. Ltd. has rolled out a India’s very first ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) TREM V-compliant single-cylinder diesel engines in the 15 HP and 18 HP brackets. This breakthrough builds on over six decades of experience and with clean, durable and fuel-efficient power solutions tailored specifically for compact tractors and agricultural machinery.
Homegrown Technology & National Patent Filings
At the heart of this next-generation engine is an indigenously developed Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system designed to cut emissions while maintaining smooth performance. Fieldmarshal has already filed multiple national patents in India covering its TREM V engine technology, reinforcing its push toward local R&D, intellectual property creation, and the wider Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India movements. Engineered for long shifts in tough working environments, the engines pair rugged builds with compact packaging, efficient cooling, and straightforward maintenance.
Strengthening Compact Tractors and Beyond
The new TREM V-compliant engines are set to directly enhance Fieldmarshal’s Shridev tractor lineup. In India, the sub-20 HP tractor market accounts for around 3% of total tractor sales, with industry volumes floating between 40,000 and 45,000 units per year.
Fieldmarshal currently fields Shridev tractors in 12 HP, 15 HP, and 18 HP versions, targeting a 10% to 15% share of the below-20 HP market within three years. Short-term plans include rolling out tractors up to 30 HP, while longer-term R&D points toward machines reaching up to 100 HP.
Global Expansion & Diverse Business Verticals
Fieldmarshal already exports to more than 60 countries and is actively creating Euro V-compatible engines alongside export tractors reaching up to 100 HP to build ties with overseas distributors and OEMs.
Beyond core engines, the group is branching into several growth verticals:
- One-Stop Agricultural Mechanisation: Expanding into reapers, multi-utility farm vehicles, garden tools, and implements for modern farming needs.
- Water Solutions: Extending its footprint beyond agricultural pumping into residential, commercial, solar, building services, and industrial segments.
- Clean Energy (Fieldmarshal–Voltuel): Offering BIS-certified hybrid inverters, lithium-ion batteries, and off-grid setups, with plans to venture into Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) by 2028.
- Cleaning & Infrastructure: Developing EV cleaning equipment, scrubbing machinery, and truck-mounted sweepers in petrol, diesel, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains for municipal and industrial use.
Six Decades of Engineering Growth
Starting out as M/s Patel Manufacturers in 1963 with a yearly output of just 80 diesel engines, Fieldmarshal has grown to produce over 160,000 engine units annually. The group maintains joint manufacturing at its Shapar facility with Mahindra & Mahindra, while supplying OEMs like Sonalika, ACE, and KAMCO. Its dedicated Shridev tractor plant boasts a production capacity of up to 100 tractors per day.
Rishi Patel, Director at Fieldmarshal P.M. Diesels Pvt. Ltd., highlighted that the TREM V engine platform and related patent filings showcase the growing capabilities of Indian engineering. He noted that while dependable equipment remains key, Fieldmarshal is actively combining its heritage with cleaner technologies to support future markets in India and abroad across agriculture, clean energy, water, and infrastructure.
