Ultra-Thin Design and Dynamic AMOLED 2X Displays
The primary distinction between the two devices comes down to physical scale. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra sports a large 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, whilst the Galaxy Tab S12+ uses a 12.6-inch panel with slimmer bezels than its direct predecessor. Both screens feature an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, reach up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness, and utilize Vision Booster technology to adjust display visibility based on surrounding light conditions.
Despite their large screens, both models keep physical bulk to a minimum:
- Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra: Measures 5.1mm in thickness, making it the thinnest Galaxy Tab Samsung has produced to date.
- Galaxy Tab S12+: Measures 5.3mm thick.
Both tablets retain an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, come bundled with an ergonomic S Pen for productivity, and feature an upgraded audio system with four-channel spatial audio (doubling the channel count of the previous generation).
3nm Dimensity 9500 Performance & Software
Under the hood, both models run on MediaTek’s 3nm Dimensity 9500 silicon. Compared to the outgoing Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, Samsung claims this processor delivers:
- Up to 61% faster Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performance.
- Up to 19% faster CPU performance.
- Up to 17% better GPU performance.
To manage heat during demanding workloads such as graphic design or video editing, Samsung incorporated a redesigned 3D Vapour Chamber.
On the software side, the range ships with Android 17 alongside One UI 9 features. Integrated Galaxy AI capabilities include tools such as Multi Window and Note Assist.
Battery Life and Fast Charging
Battery endurance is rated at up to 23 hours of playback on the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and up to 21 hours on the Galaxy Tab S12+. Both devices support 45W wired fast charging, which charges the battery from empty to 100% in roughly 95 minutes when paired with an appropriate 45W power adapter.
