The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 is fresh in our minds from its unveiling at the EICMA 2014. Prices of the two new 2015 Yamaha R1’s however were not mentioned at the unveiling. With a totally redeveloped product that focuses purely on track use, the 2015 Yamaha R1 surely takes the bar higher. With a design that clearly resembles the MotoGP prototype, the M1, the new 2015 R1 surely was one of the most awaited motorcycles this year. Now we have come to know from the Yamaha dealership that the tentative prices for the new R1 in India have been intimated to them. Brace yourself for this one. The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 will be priced at a whopping 24 lakh ex-showroom Delhi and will be available in two colours, Blue and Red. The R1 M version is priced at an even higher 32 lakh ex-showroom Delhi and will be available in only one colour option the Bluish-white metallic one. These prices might get a slight revision by January but there is a good chance that these will be the official prices. Expected delivery dates are from June 2015.
Now those are some really high numbers, the R1 it replaces was priced at 15.5 lakh. For the money what you do get is a 199 kg machine that churns out 200 PS without the ram air assist bundled with technology right from MotoGP. The electronics package includes banking sensitive Traction Control, Slide Control, Front Lift Control, Quick shifter, Launch Control, ABS and a Unified Brake System. It also features a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), basically technology that enables the R1 to always know its lean and direction of momentum and which in turn helps in accurate assessment of required power, with inputs from other departments like the traction control. Of-course then comes the LED lights. The R1 M get even more, better suspensions – Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension to be exact, lighter carbon fibre components, special Bridgestone tyres and also a Communication Control Unit (CCU) with GPS. With the CCU the rider can fine tune the electronics settings of the bike via his mobile phone. The R1 M owners will also be invited to special Yamaha Racing Events as a perk of ownership.
