So the BS 6 Yamaha R15 V3 is finally here. After the launch of BS 6 FZ Fi series, we were just waiting for the R15 V3 to follow suit. And after a month, Yamaha took that crucial step. Launched for Rs 1.45 lakh, the new R15 V3 is around Rs 4.5k dearer than its BS 4 counterpart. What else has it gained?

Yamaha has also added side-stand engine cut-off feature, dual horns, and a radial tyre at the rear. As for the engine, which is the elephant in the room, it has been tweaked to comply with the stricter BS 6 emission norms. And in all that process, it has lost marginal power and torque.

Noticed the difference in this blue paint job?

The previous model had a 155cc, single that produced 19.3 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm at 8,500 rpm. The new one has the same engine but produces 18.6 PS and 14.1 Nm at the same rev points as before.

The new BS 6 Yamaha R15 V3 is available in 3 colours – Racing Blue (Rs 1.46 lakh) that gets blue alloys instead of black with blue pinstripes, Thunder Grey (Rs 1.45 lakh) and Darknight (Rs 1.47 lakh).
