TVS Draken X21 concept auto expo 2014

While we expected prototypes of the new Apache and Victor based models from TVS at the Auto Expo 2014, what TVS brought to the Auto Expo 2014 was definitely unexpected and totally out of the box. TVS presented two concepts, a concept scooter called the Graphite and a concept motorcycle called the Draken X21. The TVS Draken X21 is a 249 cc liquid cooled single cylinder engine that produces 38.5 HP @ 12,000 RPM and 23 Nm of torque @ 9500 RPM. Bring it on TVS we need more like these. The TVS Draken weighs just 134 kgs and comes with a 10 litre fuel tank. Interestingly TVS also claims a mileage of 34 kmpl for the Draken. Another interesting feature on the TVS Draken is the reverse full flow exhaust system, its outlet is ahead of the front brake lever, sexy! Other key features on the TVS Draken include DRL’s, ABS and LED headlights.

The second concept on display at the TVS stall was the TVS Graphite scooter. This is one sweet looking machine. While scooters nowadays are going for the bland unisex look, the Graphite stands out with its sporty stealthy theme. Designed with inputs from TVS’s racing department the Graphite scooter looks ready for battle. It gets a 30 mm telescopic suspension for the front and a gas charged shock for the rear suspension. Key features on the TVS Graphite scooter include ABS, a unique AMT gearbox coupled with a paddle shift for gear, LED display unit, immobilizer and finally a smart electronic key.

Now when we had a word with the folks at TVS, they were suggestive that the Draken might make it to the market eventually in a more sedate form somewhere down the lane. But the Graphite scooter in all probability will remain one of those concepts that never see the production form. They were also keen to point out that both the concepts were totally developed by TVS in-house without inputs from BMW. So a silent but promising presentation from TVS as the Auto Expo 2014.
