new Platina ES colour options

And the Bajaj launches for 2015 begins. The first of the promised six motorcycles to come out from the Bajaj factory is the new Platina ES. ES stands for – electric start. The Platina ES has a price of Rs. 45,290/- ex showroom Karnataka and will be available in three colour options, Ebony Black, Electron Blue and Candy Red. The new Platina ES promises a staggering 96.9 kmpl mileage. Yes, you read that right, 96.9! And that’s an ARAI certified value. Even if that translates to a real world mileage of even 70 kmpl, it still is an immensely competitive number, with per kilometer cost coming to less than a rupee per kilometre at current petrol prices. Bajaj also claims a top speed of 90 kmph. The bike weighs a super light 108 kgs and looks similar to the older Plantina except for small changes to the side panels and of course the addition of the electric start. The engine essentially is the same as that on the Discover 100 but has been reduced in power to achieve the extra mileage. So power figures now lie at 8.2 PS at 7500 RPM and 8.6 Nm of torque at 5000 RPM. The low down torque should come in handy making it easy to ride in the city.

So the first motorcycle from Bajaj is here and we have five more remaining. So far we know of the Pulsar SS400, Pulsar CS400, Pulsar 200SS, and according to the latest photographs a Pulsar 200 AS – Adventure sport. That makes it five bikes including the Platina ES, wonder what the sixth one is. What do you guys think?
