The Speed Triple range from Triumph is 21 years old this year and Triumph have decided to celebrate this by two special editions called the Speed 94 and the Speed 94R for the 2015 model year. Back in 1994 when the original Speed Triple 900 was launched it took the motorcycling world by surprise. It was a fine blend of the café racer world and the naked street fighter world. This rather original classic but aggressive design still continues two decades later and has received innumerable number of upgrades and updates. The almost iconic triple cylinder engine with its distinctive engine note is now more powerful than ever and continues the two decade old tradition forward proudly. The 2015 Triumph Speed 94 and Speed 94R are special editions that combine the newage wizardry with 21 years of Speed Triple legacy. The styling cues, paint coat, decals and the other physical cosmetic changes all are designed to emulate the look of the original first generation Speed Triple.
The liquid cooled, 1050 cc, 12 valve, DOHC, in-line 3 cylinder produces 135 PS at 9,400 RPM and 111 Nm of torque at 7,750 RPM. Both the Speed 94 and the Speed 94R have the same spec engine, but the difference comes in the higher spec tyres, brakes and suspensions. Both the Speed 94 and the Speed 94R are available in two colour options, namely the Jet Black and Racing Yellow and come with a special ’94’ plaque on the tank. In addition to these both the Speed 94 and the Speed 94R have a Graphite painted subframe, black silencer wraps, black tank cap, a smoked fly screen, colour matched seat cowl and belly pan, special yellow pin striping on the yellow colour option and Speed Triple logos in the original 1994 font. The Triumph Speed 94R version is the performance version and gets higher spec, fully adjustable Öhlins NIX30 43mm front forks, Öhlins TTX36 rear shock, Brembo Monobloc radial brake calipers and Pirelli Supercorsa SP tyres. Both the bikes will be available in the UK by mid April and have been priced at a slightly higher £9,749 for the Speed 94 and £10,999 for the Speed 94R version.
