Latest news from Bajaj dealerships confirm that the launch of the updated new 2019 Dominar 400 is slated for January 2019 itself. This version will have an engine that adheres to BS-VI emission regulations way ahead of the deadline notified by the Central Government regarding the implementation of BS-VI throughout the country. The testing prototype seen before had a revamped exhaust muffler with twin exhaust ports USD forks and minor design tweaks. The catalytic converter seems different as compared to the present model which indicates engine changes in-line to BS-VI emission norms.
Bajaj Auto was one of the first companies to adhere to BS-IV regulations and it may unveil BS-VI versions for other models as well quite ahead of the 1st April 2020 deadline. The engine may not witness any increase in performance figures although it will offer higher refinement than the previous version. The current single cylinder 373 cc liquid cooled engine makes 35 PS and 35 Nm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission system and gets a slipper clutch. The instrument cluster may get several tweaks with a rumoured all digital display similar to the one seen on the current Duke 390.
As per reports, there will be a brand new suspension system which will be inclusive of front telescopic forks and a rear mono-shock. There will be 320 mm front and 220 mm rear discs along with standard dual-channel ABS. The non-ABS version of the Dominar 400 has already been discontinued by Bajaj. The new 2019 Dominar 400 will definitely be costlier than the current version which is priced at INR 1.63 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) but there is a likely hood that it will be offered in two versions, the current one being the base and the new one being the premium version. The hike in price for the new version may range between INR 15-20,000.
