Bookings have started for the eagerly anticipated BMW R 1250 GS  in India which will be the brand’s flagship adventure bike. It will be a replacement for the hallowed R 1200 GS which is arguably one of the world’s highest selling adventure bikes. The BMW R 1250 GS was shown at the 2018 EICMA Motorcycle Show and is an upgraded R 1200 GS in many ways.

The new BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure get a new 1254 cc boxer-twin engine that gets the Shiftcam Technology or variable valve timing system. This works to control throttle responses and enables improved mid-range and bottom-end torque for powering motorcycles through surfaces which are ever-changing, enabling better grip and lower end traction and grunt alike. The engine gets a bigger bore and stroke alike, getting 9% extra power and 14% added torque.

The boxer-twin engine dishes out 136 BHP and 143 Nm of peak torque and there is an upgraded electronics suite comprising ABS, Road and Rain riding modes, ASC (automatic stability control) and Hill Start Control as standard features. There is an upgraded semi-active electronic suspension setup along with automatic load compensation. There is the optional Riding Mode Pro feature which comprises of DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), Hill Start Control Pro, ABS Pro and Dynamic Brake Assist.

Some other key features include a 6.5 inch TFT full colour display unit, multi-functional instrument console, LED DRLs and revamped LED headlights. There is a revamped fuel tank, brushed aluminium radiator guard, intake ports and brand new graphics. There will also be three colour choices, namely black, matte grey and tricolour HP option of blue, white and red complete with gold rims.
