Honda has officially launched the CB300R in the Indian market at INR 2.41 lakhs (ex-showroom) and this will arrive as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits. It will compete with rivals like the BMW G 310 R which is priced from INR 2.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) and the KTM 390 Duke which comes for INR 2.44 lakhs (ex-showroom). The bike will sport Michelin Pilot Street tyres and now weighs 4 kgs more than the international model, mostly thanks to the saree guard. Specs are 30.04 HP @ 8000 RPM and 27.4 Nm @ 6500 RPM, down 1 HP compared to the international model. Deliveries will begin third week of March i.e. 11th onwards and there are only two colour options on offer.
The Honda CB300R will be sold via 22 Wing World outlets in the Indian market. The CB300R is the only Honda model to showcase a retro design other than its CB1000R+ model. The bike gets an LED headlamps and good looking digital instrument cluster in tandem with dual channel ABS and IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). The IMU unit is basically to ensure there is no rear lift during hard braking and balances the braking actuation accordingly. There is a liquid cooled 286 cc single cylinder four valve DOHC engine and this is mated to a 6-speed transmission system.
There is a preload adjustable monshock and 41 mm USD forks and even with a kerb weight of 147 kg it is one of the lightest offerings in the category. Fuel tank capacity stands at 10 litres and expected mileage is about 30 kmpl.
