Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has hiked prices of a few of its products in the Indian market. The Honda Activa 6G, Activa 125 and SP 125 have all received a price hike of Rs 552 on their ex-showroom prices. The reason for the increase in prices has not been specified, but it could be a planned and scheduled increase, or it could be to cut down losses due to the ongoing crisis.

Honda SP 125 Price Hike:

The Honda SP 125 now retails at a price of Rs 73,452 for the base variant with drum brakes and the top-spec variant with a front disc brake now retails at Rs 77,652 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Honda SP 125 was launched in India back in November 2019.

It made other products in the 125cc motorcycle segment feel rather old, thanks to its good looks and attractive graphics. It also features a segment-first digital instrument cluster which displays a plethora of information to the rider. Apart from the speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge, it displays real-time fuel efficiency, gear position indicator, eco indicator and service reminder.

The motorcycle is powered by an air-cooled, 125cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine with Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology. It puts out 10.5bhp and 10.3Nm. It also comes with an engine kill switch and headlamp pass switch which are both premium features in the segment.

Braking duties are handled by a drum brake at the rear and a drum brake up front in the base variant or a disc brake up front in the top-spec variant.

2020 BS6 Honda Activa 6G

The Honda Activa is India’s best-selling scooter by a large margin. Over the years, several competitors tried to steal this title, but failed to do so. Well, earlier this year, Honda made the scooter better by launching the next-gen Activa.

Honda calls it the Activa 6G and it is essentially the BS-VI emissions norms compliant version of the Activa. It also comes with new telescopic suspension up front and is built on a new platform. The scooter is powered by an air-cooled, 109.5cc, single-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 7.6bhp and a peak torque output of 8.79Nm.

A variomatic transmission drives the rear wheel. After the increase in prices, the scooter now has a price tag of Rs 64,464 for the Standard variant and Rs 65,412 for the Deluxe variant.

Activa 125 Price Hike:

The Activa 125 is Honda’s current flagship scooter. It was launched in September 2019 with a BS-VI compliant engine and several premium features. It comes with Honda’s silent-start technology, LED headlamps, analogue-digital instrument cluster, etc.

The scooter is powered by an air-cooled, 124cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine with a maximum power output of 8.1bhp and a peak torque output of 10.3Nm. After the price hike, the base variant of the scooter with drum brakes at the front and steel rims has a price tag of Rs 68,042.

The mid-variant with alloy wheels and drum brakes at the front has a price tag of Rs 71,542. The top-spec variant with a disc brake up front and alloy wheels has a price tag of Rs 75,042, all prices ex-showroom, Delhi.
