Aprilia SXR 160 bookings are now open in India. Ahead of its launch in the Indian market, bookings for the Aprilia SXR 160 maxi-scooter have now been opened. The Aprilia SXR 160 has been added to the Aprilia India Website and those interested can book the maxi-scooter on the same website.
The Aprilia SXR 160 first debuted at the 2020 Indian Auto Expo earlier this year. When it was showcased at the Auto Expo, Aprilia was very clear about its intention to launch the car in India. And finally, it does seem like the scooter is all set to be launched. It is the first maxi-scooter from the Italian manufacturer in the Indian market.
The Aprilia SXR 160 features unique styling with twin LED headlamps with LED DRLs up front and wide body panels to the side. It comes with a handlebar positioned high, wrapped by fibre bodywork that makes it look premium. Up front is also a visor large enough to put those on some bigger cruiser motorcycles to shame.
The Aprilia SXR 160 features a large seat that sure does look super comfortable. At the rear, the design is pretty simple. The maxi-scooter is powered by the same air-cooled, 160.03cc single-cylinder engine as the Aprilia SR 160. It boasts a maximum power output of 11bhp at 7,600rpm and a peak torque output of 11.6Nm at 6,000rpm.
The underpinnings of the SXR 160 are very similar to that of the SR 160. Braking is handled by a 220mm disc up front and a 140mm drum at the rear while suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. The Aprilia SXR 160 rides on 12-inch wheels at the front and rear.
An LCD screen handles instrumentation duties. The SXR 160 is expected to be priced higher than the SR 160 which currently retails at Rs 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). We should see the prices being announced in the coming days.
