The 2021 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V has been launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 1.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle remains the same in terms of design and styling and comes with a few mechanical changes. The mechanical changes in question have resulted in the power output increasing by 1.8bhp.
The TVS Apache range of motorcycles offers decent amounts of performance to entry-level buyers and the Apache RTR 160 4V is where the performance lineup of the Apache begins. The current-gen Apache RTR 160 4V was launched in November 2019 and has since then found lots of buyers.
The very idea of an entry-level performance model based on the bigger 200 4V has the word success written all over it, thanks to its comparatively lower price tag. TVS has now launched the updated 2021 model. At first glance, it is hard to tell the difference between the new model and the outgoing one.
This could be due to the fact that there aren’t any differences on the outside. The motorcycle looks exactly the same. It retains the same aggressive and sharp styling. Up front is an LED headlamp with LED DRLS. Right above it is a sleek LCD screen for instrumentation.
The fuel tank sports sharp extensions and the side panels are lengthy and finished in a contrasting colour. It also retains the same LED tail lamp. The double-barrel exhaust adds oodles of character to the styling of the motorcycle. The cycle parts too remain the same. Up front is a telescopic fork and at the rear is a monoshock for suspension duties.
Braking is taken care of a petal disc brake up front, with a single-channel ABS. Buyers get to choose between a drum brake and a disc brake at the rear. The engine receives the biggest update.
The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V retains the same air and oil-cooled, 159.7cc, BS6 compliant, single-cylinder engine. Power has gone up from 15.6bhp to 17.4bhp while peak torque output remains the same at 14.73Nm. The drum brake variant retails at Rs 1.07 lakh, while the disc brake variant carries a price tag of Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
