At the forefront of nurturing racing talent since 1982, TVS Racing has launched the eighth edition of the TVS Young Media Racer Program (YMRP) at the Madras International Circuit (MIC). The selection round concluded successfully with the fastest 16 young journalists from across the country qualifying. Since 2017, this program has been instrumental in fostering racing talent, showcasing TVS Racing’s commitment to promoting motorsport in India and training media enthusiasts passionate about racing.
Key highlights of the program include:
- TVS YMRP offers young racers a platform to experience the thrill of racing in a safe environment, competing for the prestigious TVS One Make Championship alongside the Indian National Motorcycle Championship.
- From 39 participants, the 16 fastest riders were selected at the TVS YMRP 8.0 selection round at MIC, Chennai.
- The TVS Racing training academy’s Level-1 program included a full day of rigorous training with both theory and practical sessions led by TVS Racing champions.
- The 16 selected racers will compete in the TVS India One Make Championship Young Media Program category, running alongside the Indian National Motorcycle Championship.
- The racers will ride the race-spec TVS Apache RTR 200 4V in the media category throughout the season.
- Over the years, the program has enhanced the racing skills of more than 200 journalists, some of whom now compete in various racing formats.
- Setting new benchmarks in safety, TVS Racing introduced Alpinestars Airbag Tech Air 5 and FIM homologated helmets, similar to those used by MotoGP racers, for the first time in India for TVS YMRP participants.

TVS YMRP participants are equipped with top-of-the-line safety gear, developed through a partnership between TVS Racing and Alpinestars, announced late last year.
Helmets:
- FIM homologated helmet 22.06
- Carbon fiber shell: Multi-layer composite construction bonded with advanced epoxy resin to maximize strength, mechanical performance, and weight ratio
- Aerodynamic: Overall helmet shape developed for aerodynamic efficiency and stability; race spoiler and winglets reduce drag by 4.54%
Airbags:
- Active electronic system with six integrated sensors (3 gyroscopes and 3 accelerometers)
- Crash algorithm leveraging AI to accurately determine airbag deployment in a crash
- Airbag deployment within 30 milliseconds
- Developed from years of research with over 50% of the world’s top MotoGP racers
As India’s leading racing brand, TVS Racing pioneered the One Make Championship (OMC) in 1994, expanding into four categories: Rookie, Women’s, Media, and Expert. In 2022, TVS Racing organized its first TVS Asia One Make Championship. To date, over 3,000 participants have competed across various categories in the TVS OMC.
