The collaboration between Diesel’s founder Renzo Rosso and the Ducati Design Center gives birth to the Monster Diesel that is based on an 1100EVO and further enhances the Monster family’s defining concepts of functionality, style and sport with an innovative evolution of the flagship model. Creative, innovative, fun, irreverent, sexy and brave are the words to best describe the new Monster Diesel. Creative, innovative, fun, irreverent, sexy and brave are the words to best describe the new Monster Diesel. The partnership, which started in 2011 with the sponsorship of the Ducati Team in MotoGP, Ducati and Diesel now launch the Monster Diesel with a dedicated Capsule Collection. The brand new customised model is an ‘urban military chic’ interpretation of Ducati’s iconic naked motorcycle and will be unveiled alongside the new collection at the Diesel stores of New York-Soho (15 March) Rome (22 March) and Tokyo-Shibuya (29 March).
Set against the black treatment of Ducati’s Trellis frame, wheels, engine covers, exhaust system and forks, the exclusive ‘Diesel Brave Green matte’ livery delivers a rugged military vehicle feel, while front brake callipers are finished in shocking yellow to make a strong reminder of the model’s performance heritage.
The dual-branded collection is dedicated to addicts of life in the fast lane and devoted enthusiasts of these two great Italian brands. Composed of eleven different styles, the range includes essential slim-fitting biker jackets, sweats, tees, a unique five pocket in raw denim and a set of accessories.
All pieces are characterised by pure biker attitude, clean technical details and bold Diesel graphics, such as the treated rubber prints recalling the burnt rubber of the motorcycle’s tyres. Colours for the collection are black, grey, white with pop up red inspired by logos from both brands, while the range of fabrics goes from treated nylon and cotton to denim and overdyed jersey mix with leather and metal applications.
Diesel is a global lifestyle brand. From its headquarters in Breganze, it directly manages 19 subsidiaries across Europe, Asia and the Americas. It is now present in more than 80 countries with 5,000 points of sale and more than 500 Diesel mono-brand stores. Diesel is part of the holding Only the Brave, which also incorporates 55DSL, Maison Martin Margiela, Viktor & Rolf, and Staff International. In 2010, the holding’s revenues amounted to 1.3 billion euro
The new Monster 1100EVO communicates the increased performance with a rear-end more dynamic and sharp, thanks to low level cannon-style, vertically stacked silencers placed on the right side. Even the new 10 spoke rims with a design carried over from Streetfighter and 1198 want to stress the evolved sports look of the new Monster. The sport-oriented separated passenger pegs and the dynamic design of the license plate holder contribute to minimalistic the bikes side profile.
The Monster Diesel features an eye-catching “military chic” style immediately recognizable in urban environment thanks to its “brave” color combination: the new and exclusive Diesel Brave Green matt color matches a total black treatment for trellis and rims extended to engine covers, exhaust system and forks; while the front brake calipers in yellow are a nice sporty touch reminding the superior performance of the Monster 1100EVO . The Monster Diesel is not only a color combination: new and dedicated parts (passenger seat cover, exhaust system heat shields and dashboard cover) have been specifically designed to enhance the sensation to be in front of a rugged military vehicle.
