Marc Márquez consolidated his lead in the Moto2 World Championship with victory at the mythical Indianapolis circuit. The Repsol rider, who commenced the race in second place following yesterday’s qualifying session, came back from a slowish start which saw him drop two positions to take the lead in the fourth lap –a lead which he held for the remainder of the race.

The Repsol rider crossed the finishing line with a lead of more than five seconds and also recorded a circuit record race time of 1 minute, 43 seconds and 304 miliseconds. Of the ten races to have taken place thus far this season Marc Márquez has won half of them and has enjoyed three additional podiums. With his latest victory the rider from Cervera maintains his Moto2 championship lead with a total of 188 points and an advantage of 39 points over the second placed rider Pol Espargaró.
