Suzuki Motorcycles forayed into the Indian market back in the year 2006 and in a span of 12 years, the brand has now achieved 4 million units in production. The 4 millionth unit has just been rolled out from the company’s manufacturing facility in Gurgaon. This new feat is a shot in the arm for Suzuki which is targeting 1 million units in annual sales volumes by the year 2020 along with a doubling of overall market share in India. It already has 521 dealerships in the country at the moment.
Satoshi Uchida, the Managing Director at SMIPL, expressed his gratitude to all the customers, partners and other stakeholders who have put their trust and faith in Suzuki Motorcycles and its pioneering products over more than a decade in the Indian market. He also added that the new achievement is just what the brand needs to achieve its sales targets of 7.5 lakh units by the end of the present financial year.
The company currently sells 16 products in the Indian market which includes premium offerings such as the V-Strom 650XT, Hayabusa, GSX-R1000R and GSX-S750 and also the RM-Z range of dirt and off-road motorcycles in addition to mass market hot-sellers like the Access 125, Intruder 155, Burgman Street and Gixxer line-up.
