UM Lohia India has officially launched the carburettor variant for the UM Renegade Commando Classic in the country at INR 1.95 lakhs (ex-showroom) and this comes at a time when several brands are already launching ABS equipped new models across their line-ups. The variant is cheaper than the FI variant by around INR 6, 000.

There are no mechanical changes for the UM Commando and it uses a liquid cooled 279.5 cc single cylinder engine that is paired to a 5 speed gearbox. This engine makes 23.3 hp and 23 Nm and the FI variant makes 24.8 hp and 23 Nm in comparison.

UM is not offering ABS for this variant which will be an issue for the sales figures of the motorcycle since ABS will be compulsory across all bikes with capacities above 125 cc from April 2019. The company has not yet revealed official information relating to bookings and waiting periods. The model should be arriving at dealerships in the next few weeks.
