In what could be a pioneering launch of sorts, Suzuki has launched the DR-Z50 mini off-roader in the Indian market. This is priced at INR 2.55 lakhs (ex-showroom) and the high price tag can be attributed to the fact that it is imported as a CBU. The DR-Z50 will now be sold in the off-roader range with the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 from Suzuki.

The DR-Z50 will look to target younger customers and comes with only 560 mm of seat height and 54 kg of kerb weight. There are 10-inch wire-spoke wheels with knobby 2.50-10 33J section tube-like tyres. There is improved traction along with a swingarm coil-type rear spring and inverted telescopic front forks. There is keyed ignition available for the mini bike which does not get any rear-view mirrors, tail light or headlight.

There is an air cooled four stroke 49 cc single cylinder carburettor OHC engine that is paired to a 3 speed transmission unit with an automatic clutch. There is a throttle limiter (adjustable) which enables adults to set the throttle opening for young riders accordingly. There are drum brakes at both front and rear. There is bodywork in a vibrant yellow colour along with graphics which are similar to the RM-Z range of bikes. The DR-Z50 will take on the Kawasaki KLX110 in India which is priced at INR 2,99,500 (ex-showroom).
