Okinawa Scooters has launched its eagerly awaited Okinawa i-Praise e-scooter in India. Prices stand at INR 1.15 lakhs (ex-showroom) which makes the bike costlier by a whopping INR 71,460 in comparison to the regular Praise, but right in line with other smart scooters from the companies like Ather Energy. While both scooters seem to have their plus points, the detachable battery pack on the Okinawa could make it a better proposition.
Okinawa claims that the e-scooter will charge way faster and is also smarter as compared to the regular model while being lighter at the same time. The detachable lithium-ion battery which only needs about 2-3 hours to be charged as compared to 6-8 hours for the Okinawa Praise lead-acid battery.

The 2.9 kWh battery can be charged through 5A sockets with an added swappable battery pack available that costs INR 70,000. The company has stated that the i-Praise is 30-40% lighter than all other e-scooters available in the country with a range between 160-180 km and top speed of 55-75 kmph under testing conditions.
The i-Praise also gets the Okinawa Eco App which has features such as geo-fencing which offers prompts on the rider’s phone whenever a certain perimeter is crossed by the vehicle. This also offers information like service intervals, battery life and trip details. The scooter has seat height of 800 mm which is taller than the regular Praise (774 mm). Okinawa has already received around 450 bookings for the i-Praise which comes in golden and black, red and black and black and silver colour combinations.
