The Yezdi Adventure has been with us for about 2 years and now receives its first major update. There are changes to the suspension damping, changes to how the bike behaves at lower rpms, a lighter clutch, a new bash plate, better heat management, more comfortable seats, its lighter and now more compact with the cage closer to the body. With the 2024 Yezdi Adventure the company has mainly actioned on feedback that it has received since its launch, primary of which is to make it a well rounded motorcycle for both daily use and adventure touring. So have they achieved it? Lets find out.

The overall design remains largely unchanged, and it takes a keen eye to spot differences between the updated Adventure and the previous model. The most noticeable changes are the four new color options, a new bash plate, and a new tank cage. The new colour options definitely add more character to the 2024 Yezdi Adventure.

Performance

The 334cc liquid-cooled engine has undergone significant changes and is now called the Alpha2 engine. It features reworked internals, rerouted exhaust, and a relocated coolant reservoir for improved performance, refinement, and cooling. The result is a more refined engine with better low-end performance especially in the first 3 gears. The response from the throttle is much improved now in the lower gears and the engine can hover at lower RPMs much better compared to the outgoing version. The conditions we tested the bike in, really did it no favors and there were some tricky spots in which you’d wish the bike would crank up easier.

Yezdi has made changes to the fuel maps and introduced a new gear-based mapping system, optimizing the first three gears for low-end grunt, suitable for urban or off-road use. In our experience with the 2024 Yezdi Adventure, there is a positive impact from these changes with the engine happier at slower speeds than its predecessor. The lighter clutch also made things more comfortable in city traffic.

Handling

Riding the Adventure off-road was enjoyable, and the improved low-end performance was a plus despite the unfavorable conditions. The lighter clutch and new slip-and-assist clutch made gear changes easier. Braking performance remains decent, and Yezdi has tweaked the ABS modes, with noticeable differences in how early ABS kicks in depending on the mode (Road, Rain, or Off-road). The rear ABS can only be turned off in Off-road mode.

The tarmac manners of the 2024 Yezdi Adventure also has improvements. The bike felt smoother and packed sufficient punch to keep the ride engaging. Yezdi has retuned the suspension damping for better absorption of undulations at lower speeds and more composure at higher speeds. These changes have improved handling and gives better confidence overall under different conditions.

Brake dive is better contained, and mid-corner composure is improved. While not as off-road-focused as it’s competitors, the Yezdi Adventure remains one of the more capable off-road bikes available under Rs 3 lakh. Its road touring capabilities too are much improved with lesser vibes at cruising speeds of 90-110 kmph in top gear.

Verdict

Prices for the motorcycle start at Rs 2.10 lakh and go up to Rs 2.20 lakh (ex-showroom India). However the tank cage is not included as standard and is sold as a “mandatory accessory” for an additional Rs 3,499. Yezdi should consider including the price of this accessory with the motorcycle as it would be a better customer experience.

Our time with the 2024 Yezdi Adventure was surely memorable, and I was glad to see significant changes on the motorcycle. At a more affordable price, you now get a motorcycle that is more refined, tractable, and lighter. Yezdi’s case is further strengthened by the Adventure currently having no direct rival, unlike the previous generation Himalayan. There are some bits and pieces that can be better. For example would have loved to see a better console up front, at least as an option and probably improvements to the switch gear. But either ways what you get is a fun, capable and versatile motorcycle that can do it all.
