In a historic first, the “Ride of the Marakkars” motorcycle rally culminated on December 11th with a spectacular crossing of Atal Setu, India’s longest bridge. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Indian Navy, Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, and the nation, as these iconic Indian brands became the first to conquer this engineering marvel on two wheels.
The rally, led by senior Indian Navy officers alongside riders from the Western Naval Command and other branches of the armed forces, saw 22 indigenously manufactured motorcycles embark on a journey along scenic coastal routes. This display of “Make in India” prowess showcased the synergy between homegrown innovation and the adventurous spirit of our armed forces.
“Witnessing Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA motorcycles thunder across Atal Setu fills me with immense pride,” stated Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group and co-founder of Classic Legends. “This partnership with the Indian Navy celebrates the ‘Ride of the Marakkars’ and honors India’s rich maritime history.”

The journey, starting from INS Kunjali in Mumbai, took riders through picturesque locales like Pune, Satara, Dapoli, Ratnagiri, and Goa. Along the way, they visited sites of historical and maritime significance, paying homage to the legacy of the legendary Kunjali Marakkars.
“Conquering Atal Setu on these motorcycles symbolizes the countless bridges the Navy builds with the people of India,” remarked Lieutenant Commander Vishal Nair.
This “Ride of the Marakkars” further solidifies the strong bond between Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles and the Indian Armed Forces, following successful collaborations in events like the INS Vikramaditya expedition and the launch of the Jawa 42 Tawang Edition. The brand continues to uphold its commitment to performance, reliability, and supporting those who safeguard our nation.
