All details of the Royal Enfield Bear 650 have finally dropped. This new scrambler motorcycle which is basically an Interceptor 650 at the core, receives a bunch of changes to become the Bear. It will be available in five captivating colors: Boardwalk White, Petrol Green, Wild Honey, Golden Shadow, and Two Four Nine, the Bear 650 pays homage to Eddie Mulder’s 1960 Big Bear Run victory. The official launch and pricing will be announced at the upcoming EICMA 2024.

The bike boasts a retro-inspired design with a round headlight, classic mirrors, and tasteful graphics. While sharing design cues with the Interceptor, the Bear 650 features a wider handlebar, a flatter seat, a distinctive middle section, and a redesigned tail section. The 2-into-1 exhaust system with blacked-out heat shields adds to its rugged appeal.
Powered by the same 648cc, twin-cylinder engine as the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, the Bear 650 delivers 47.4 PS and 56.5 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension setup includes a 43mm inverted fork and twin shock absorbers, both sourced from Showa. Braking duties are handled by a 320mm front disc and a 270mm rear disc with switchable dual-channel ABS.

The Bear 650 rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, shod with MRF Nylorex tires. Despite its retro styling, the bike offers modern features like all-LED lighting, a TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB charging port. Tyres are tubed though.
Expected to be launched in India around the Rs 3.5 lakh mark, the Bear 650 should be an interesting motorcycle. The only things that could possibly let this motorcycle down is its weight and the lack of tubeless tyres. Being a scrambler switchable Traction Control with multiple levels would have been good to have as well.
