The Ather Rizta — the company’s first-ever electric family scooter — has smashed through the 1 lakh sales mark in less than a year since launch, proving that there’s serious demand for practical, family-first EVs in India.
Unveiled at the Ather Community Day in April 2024 and hitting dealerships in June the same year, the Rizta has become a hit among Indian families looking for a spacious, comfortable, and smart alternative to traditional scooters. In fact, it now accounts for 60% of Ather’s total sales — a clear sign that they’ve struck the right chord.
Ather’s Move from Sporty to Sensible
While Ather made a name for itself with the zippy 450 series, the Rizta was built ground-up for a very different audience: families. Think larger seats, 56L of underseat storage, a wide floorboard, and loads of real-world practicality — all packed in that clean, futuristic Ather design language.
According to Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather, this scooter was key in helping them connect with a much wider customer base. “The Rizta helped us grow our footprint in multiple states and broadened our consumer profile,” he said. And the numbers back it up — market share is up across key regions like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, MP, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.
Packed with Tech, Built for Everyday Use
This isn’t just a big, comfy scooter. It’s loaded with smart and safety features that make daily riding smoother and safer:
- SkidControl: Ather’s traction control system to avoid wheel slips on sand, water, or gravel.
- Tow & Theft Alerts: Sends you a ping if someone messes with your ride.
- Emergency Stop Signal: Tail light flashes rapidly to alert the vehicle behind during a sudden brake.
- Live Location Sharing via AtherStack 6: Great for safety-conscious riders.
- Google Maps on dashboard: Built-in nav means no more juggling your phone.

Thanks to Rizta and the 450 line-up, Ather became the #1 EV brand in South India in Q4 FY25 (as per VAHAN data). Clearly, families are embracing EVs that are more than just eco-friendly — they want smart, tech-driven, and comfort-oriented two-wheelers too. With such a flying start, it’s safe to say the Rizta has changed the game for Ather. It’s no longer just about sporty, urban rides — it’s about building a range that fits every Indian rider’s lifestyle. The question now is, can Ather replicate this success in Tier 2 & 3 cities even more aggressively?
