In a major boost for India’s electric mobility transition, Indofast Energy, the country’s largest battery-swapping network, has partnered with Green Tiger Mobility, a leading two-wheeler retrofit specialist. Together, they aim to tackle India’s staggering base of over 300 million petrol-powered two-wheelers by offering an affordable, eco-friendly, and seamless retrofit solution.
This pioneering initiative enables riders to convert their existing petrol two-wheelers into electric vehicles using Green Tiger Mobility’s ARAI-approved retrofit kits. Once converted, riders gain access to Indofast Energy’s extensive battery-swapping network, eliminating traditional EV concerns like range anxiety and long charging times.
The comprehensive solution also includes RTO approvals, insurance, and compliance with regulatory requirements, all bundled at a fixed cost. To further ease the transition, the conversion can be financed through small down payments and manageable EMIs, making the shift to electric mobility financially viable—often offset by the savings from lower running costs. In essence, the vehicle pays for itself.
Currently, the retrofit solution is available for the top 11 best-selling scooter models, including:
- Hero: Maestro, Pleasure
- Honda: Activa, Aviator, Dio, Cliq
- Suzuki: Access, Swish
- TVS: Jupiter, Wego
- Yamaha: Fascino

The service is already live in Bangalore and is set to launch in Delhi NCR by May. A nationwide rollout is planned over the next 12 to 15 months. Initially focusing on quick commerce delivery executives, the program will soon expand to the broader two-wheeler market, democratizing access to electric mobility across India.
With a customer base of over 500 in Bangalore alone, Green Tiger Mobility has firmly established its credibility, backed by six approved patents and support from premier institutions such as ARAI, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), IIM Bangalore, BITS Pilani, and Bajaj Motors.
Meanwhile, Indofast Energy—a 50:50 joint venture between IndianOil Corporation Limited and SUN Mobility—operates a network of over 900 battery swap stations across 22+ cities, handling more than a million swaps monthly. Their advanced energy infrastructure supports a wide range of electric vehicles, from e-autos and e-bikes to e-scooters, ensuring uninterrupted mobility for commercial and personal users alike.
By integrating Green Tiger’s retrofit innovation with Indofast Energy’s battery-swapping prowess, the partnership aims to make EV adoption more accessible, practical, and sustainable for millions of Indian riders.
Rajat Malhan, Senior Vice President at Indofast Energy, commented:
“Imagine your reliable petrol scooter reborn as a sleek, battery-swappable EV—no need for a new vehicle, just a smart, sustainable upgrade. This partnership is a pivotal move towards a cleaner India, reducing fuel costs and emissions while supporting our nation’s EV goals. We are excited about the positive change it will bring to millions of gig workers.”
Ashish Dokania, Founder of Green Tiger Mobility, added:
“The future of mobility isn’t just about building new EVs; it’s about transforming the millions of petrol two-wheelers already on our roads. Our retrofit solution, combined with Indofast’s swapping network, makes sustainable transportation a practical reality for everyday Indians.”
