The electric scooter game in India is heating up, and Suzuki has just rolled out its own contender – the e-Access. With a familiar brand name and a fresh approach, the big question is: can Suzuki succeed in this competitive space?

Bold Looks, Unusual Design

Right off the bat, the e-Access doesn’t look like your usual Suzuki scooter. It ditches the neutral design and goes bold with a double duck-bill front end. While that look might split opinions, it definitely helps the scooter stand out. Some might love the quirky styling, others not so much – but it’s a design that’s hard to ignore. The e-Access comes in three dual-tone colours: black/red, green/silver, and white/silver.

Battery Tech That’s Different

Where most e-scooters in India stick to NCM batteries, Suzuki has opted for LFP (Lithium Ferrous Phosphate) tech. What does that mean? LFP batteries are known to be safer and longer-lasting, but they don’t pack as much energy density – which is why the e-Access offers a certified range of 95 km from its 3kWh battery.

It ships with a 600W portable charger that takes 6 hours and 20 minutes for a full charge. However, Suzuki is planning to install fast chargers at all its outlets, which can fully charge the scooter in about 2 hours and 12 minutes.

Decent Features with a Few Nice Touches

In terms of features, the e-Access ticks most boxes: a 4.2-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, three ride modes (Eco, Ride A, Ride B), and a USB charging port. A particularly thoughtful touch is the self-holding seat, which stays up without needing one hand to hold it.

That said, storage space could have been more. The underseat storage is 17 litres.

Comfortable Ride, Balanced Handling

On the move, the e-Access shows Suzuki’s usual strengths. It feels stable, surefooted, and easy to flick around, making it ideal for daily city commutes. While it doesn’t feel as zippy or thrilling as some rivals like the Ather 450, its calm and progressive power delivery will appeal to new riders and those seeking a no-fuss ride.

The ride modes are well-calibrated, and you can comfortably cruise in Eco mode (topping out at 55kmph). But switching modes could have been a bit less complicated—you can only switch from Eco to Ride A or Ride B while riding, but not between Ride A and B. To change that, you’ll need to stop and reconfigure. Suzuki says this was done because of different regenerative braking levels, but most riders might find it unnecessarily fiddly.

The rider’s triangle is neutral, the seat feels comfy and roomy, and although a full suspension test wasn’t possible, initial impressions on the go-kart track suggest the ride quality is pretty smooth.

Price Will Make or Break It

The e-Access feels like a typical Suzuki product – well-built, thoughtfully engineered, and reliable. It’s got most of the essentials people look for in a practical electric scooter. But here’s the catch: Suzuki hasn’t revealed the price yet.

If Suzuki manages to price it smartly – say around ₹1-1.20 lakh (ex-showroom) range – it could really click with buyers looking for a dependable, no-nonsense electric scooter from a trusted brand.

Until then, all we can say is – the e-Access looks like a solid package. Now, it’s up to Suzuki to get the pricing right.
