Evoke Motorcycles, the Chinese electric two-wheeler manufacturer, is planning a foray into the Indian market sometime soon. The company is already planning to setup a vehicle production and design facility in the country. The Indian market may get the brand new entry-level offering from Evoke Motorcycles which is code named as the Project M1 according to the company’s CEO and co-founder, Nathan Siy. This will be a bike tailored for meeting needs of customers who are more price sensitive while offering latest electric innovations at the same time.
Project M1 will be competing with regular bikes in the 125-150 cc space and Evoke Motorcycles is also exploring the launch of this product in India along with a network of charging stations. The bike may also come with the fast-charging infrastructure from the brand (patented) which may get up to 80% of charging levels accomplished in 15 minutes. Evoke Charging Stations will be established in key Indian cities where the bikes are retailed.
Parts may be localised as per Siy in order to keep costs more competitive. He also stated that 70% is the targeted localisation level for the project although the battery and motor will be brought from China. The company is considering the establishment of its Indian headquarters at Pune or New Delhi.
