BMW Motorrad and Husqvarna Motorcycles received eight “podium” finishes in Motorrad magazine’s Motorcycle of the Year 2012 awards on March 1st. The German magazine’s awards are decided by votes from the magazine’s readers and demonstrate the brand’s enduring popularity.

In the Touring category, the new K1600GT and K1600GTL took the top spot, with more than 25 percent of the vote. The R1200RT scored 14.6 percent to take silver. The C600 Sport and C650GT maxi-scooters took second in the scooter class, with almost 18 percent of the vote despite the fact they have not yet gone on sale. Meanwhile, the R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure took 22.2 percent in the Enduro/Supermoto section which put them into first place. Husqvarna’s first road bike in decades, the Nuda 900 and Nuda 900R, celebrated third place in their very first entry in the category. The S1000RR also took its prize in the Sport category, where it came second with 21.3 percent of the vote.
