KTM has probably been the most watched out for motorcycle brand in the last couple of weeks, first the Dakar, then KTM Duke 200 launch in India, along with confirmed news about the Duke 350 and a faired sibling based on their Moto3 motorcycle having the same 350 engine, and now to keep us even more engrossed in the brand, MCN has got hold of photographs of KTM testing out a prototype at Canary Islands. Jorg Schuller product manager at KTM confirmed the motorcycle to be a prototype of their popular adventure series.

The new KTM Adventure is expected to run a two-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1290 cc, which will reportedly deliver a power of 130 hp which is 25 hp more than its current competitor the BMW‘s R 1200 GS. Since the bike in the pictures are an early test version it  would take at-least a year and half till we could actually see a launch. The new Adventure 1290 is definitely a big announcement after nearly a decade of 950 and 990 cc engines. Currently the most interesting detail that these images reveal is the front wheel, which is probably 19-inch sizes. This would mean the new Adventure 1290 might loose out a bit on its off-road capability. Either ways a bigger better KTM Adventure 1290 is on its way and the wait begins.
