In continuation to our earlier report on Suzuki’s stall at the Auto Expo 2014, Suzuki have priced the V-Strom 1000 at 14.5 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. At that price it is one of the cheapest adventure touring motorcycle second only to Triumphs Tiger 800 XC which is at 12 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The Suzuki V-Strom is the 6th CBU from Suzuki for India and compared to the prices of say something like the GS1200 from BMW which costs almost double, the V-Strom seems like a sweet deal for those who want a machine that pretty much can do it all. The 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 produces 99.2 HP @8000 RPM and 103 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM.
Suzuki had termed the segment as “Sport Enduro Touring” while introducing the V-Strom 1000 in 2002. In 2003 they introduced lesser capacity versions as well. Over the years the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 has seen a lot of minor updates but the core has essentially remained the same quite simply because Suzuki got it almost perfect the first time. The only real grouse we have the Suzuki V-Strom is in the design department, and being very specific, the front headlights. But then again looks are subjective.
