The official prices for the 2016 Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the 2016 Suzuki GSX-S1000F for the UK has just been announced. The 2016 Suzuki GSX-S1000 has been priced at £8,999 wth its ABS version is priced at £9,499. The 2016 Suzuki GSX-S1000F has been priced at £9,999 and comes standard with ABS. All prices will further include on road taxes. The news comes as a slight disappointment to fans looking forward to this motorcycle because an earlier leak suggested a price that was almost £300 lower for the GSX-S1000 and about £600 lower for the GSX-S1000F. The current pricing puts it in the exact same price point of the Z1000 and CB1000R and might not exactly be the best decision yet from Suzuki.
Both the Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the GSX-S1000F from Suzuki are powered by the same engine. The 999cc inline four produces 145 HP at 9500 RPM, there has been no official word on the torque number but we expect it to be around the 120 Nm area. A point to be noted is that the engine is based on the Suzuki GSXR-1000 K7, basically a tuned down or a mellower version. Looks wise the S1000 is a our favourite. Simple clean lines and a proper chunky looking naked bike that looks like a quality build. The S1000F has a very front heavy design. The big fairing with massive headlight recesses make it look very bulky. Essentially it is the naked with a bolt on fairing. The design also seems to try to make it look like a sports bike with a rather low slung design. We think a half fairing should have been the way to go and would have looked much more appealing and light. Specifications wise, other equipment includes twin Brembos at the front and a single at the rear, USD forks, a 17 litre tank and a kerb weight of 209 kg for the F model and 207 for the naked. Both models also feature a three level traction control to ensure control in all type of road conditions.
