Husqvarna have slowly and steadily been releasing more and more information about the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto. It started with just a concept photograph and then came the teaser videos and then the official announcement of the specifications. And now we have a proper track video of the 701 Supermoto that pretty much sums up what the motorcycle is capable of.

Intended as a road going supermoto machine the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto quickly came under a lot of criticism. The primary of which was the fact that it was too front heavy to be a thoroughbred supermoto. But then this is a road machine, a motorcycle that will mark the return of Husqvarna to the street. A motorcycle that is aimed to be your companion for the daily grind and then some weekend fun. When you consider that fact, the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto makes a lot of sense. With an engine capacity of 690cc that produces close to 66 Hp of power, coupled with goodies like a slipper clutch and ABS, this supermoto could essentially be the perfect blend of fun and everyday practicality. The Husqvarna 701 Supermoto would be officially available in the EU region by November.

The Husqvarna 701 Supermoto is not the only new bike from the company for the street. Also coming are the Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen. Both these will mostly feature the engine currently doing duty on the Duke and the RC390. While the Vitpilen is a cafe racer based design, the Svartpilen is like a scrambler and looks the more fun motorcycle. There is a good chance that these new lower capacity Husqvarna’s will be made right here in India. The amount of part sharing between these and the existing KTM models are very high and could lead to KTM making them alongside the Duke’s and RC’s. There were reports that Husqvarna could even start selling their motorcycles here, but at this point of time there are no concrete leads to confirm this news.
