Lets start off by saying right away that the photograph we have here is definitely photoshopped, and quite badly done up as well. But the overall idea of a Kawasaki Versys 250 might not be that far fetched. Just think about it, Honda already has the CB400x/500x doing duty in many markets, KTM most definitely is working on a 200/390 based adventure sport and closer to home we have the Pulsar Adventure Sport and even Royal Enfield working on the same lines with the Himalayan. So it would not be wrong to expect the same from Kawasaki. A Versys 250 or even a Versys 300 is probable, since Kawasaki has both the engines, it would actually be something to look out for. Both the engines are proven ones and are rock solid. A Versys 250 would be an ideal sports tourer in a country like ours.
The 250cc engine will easily produce 32-33 horses and can cruise all day at speeds of 120 kmph without breaking a sweat. The Versys 250 if a reality will share its underpinnings with the current Z250 and share the same fuel injected parallel twin engine. Being of the Versys family, no surprises in guessing what it will look like. An upright riding position with high handlebars, a super comfy seat both for rider and pillion and hopefully a larger capacity fuel tank and higher ground clearance. The news source suggests that we could see the motorcycle presented as early as later this year at the Indonesian Motorcycle Show 2015 expected to happen in October/ November.
This year is again going to be a busy year for the sub 500cc range. Almost every manufacturer has something cooking in this range and with the Intermot and EICMA also lined up, we are expecting a whole array or new choices in this segment. Of course, we will keep you updated on the Versys 250 and everything else right here, so do check back soon.
