Yamaha Fascino launched at a price of Rs. 52,500/-

Yamaha India today launched another scooter into the 110 cc segment, the Yamaha Fascino. The Yamaha Fascino price has been announced as Rs. 52,500/- ex-showroom Delhi and will come in 5 colour options. This should translate to an on-road price of about 60 or 61 thousand depending on which city you are buying from. We knew Yamaha were ready to launch a new scooter but expected the company to enter the 125cc segment with this launch. The new Yamaha scooter the ‘Fascino’ shares the same base as the Yamaha Alpha, Yamaha Ray Z and the Yamaha Ray. Which means what we pretty much have here is a total cosmetic make over. But this makeover has enabled Yamaha to reduce the weight of the scooter by about a kilogram, the final kerb weight standing at 103 kgs. This makes it one of the lightest scooter in its segment, second only to the Suzuki Lets at 98 kgs.

Design wise, Yamaha have chosen to take inspiration from a scooter they have in other markets called the Nozza Grande. While a clear similarity can be seen, the Fascino has been given its own identity. Yamaha have moved away from the tried and tested sharp and executive look and this time have gone for a retro styling. The name Fascino means fascination in Italian and thats the same area the design takes its cues from. The retro looks definitely reminds you of the Vespa and being priced much cheaper than the Vespa, the Fascino will definitely take a nice chunk from the Vespa sales. Yamaha says that the ‘Blue Core’ technology that they introduced with the Alpha has enabled the engine to be more efficient. The Yamaha Fascino mileage so stands at an impressive 66 kmpl on paper.
