The Yamaha Cygnus Alpha gets optional disc brake and has been launched at a price of INR 52,556 (Ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new scooter also gets two new dual colour shades – Radiant Cyan and Marvel Black. Yamaha has also provided new graphics for a more attractive look. The new Yamaha Cygnus Alpha has borrowed the wheels and the disc brake from the recently launched Yamaha Ray ZR.

Mr Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Private Limited, said that the scooter market has witnessed rapid growth in the last few years and Yamaha has been able to make steady inroad in this segment. Yamaha is looking at reaching a 10 per cent market share by the end of this year and the introduction of this latest variant of the Cygnus Alpha scooter is expected to further propel its growth in the segment. This latest offering with disc brake is aimed at families who want that additional safety feature.

New Yamaha Alpha

Except the new disc brake, Yamaha Cygnus Alpha has the same 113cc, single cylinder, 4 stroke engine that has been tuned in a state to produce a max power of 7.1 PS at 7500 rpm and puts out 8.1 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. This engine is nurtured by the company’s Blue Core Technology which increases the combustion efficiency, cooling efficiency and also reduces power losses.

Yamaha Alpha new colour options

The new Yamaha Cygnus Alpha is expected to be available at all major Yamaha Dealerships across the country by the mid of June. Yamaha is anticipating a growth in sales of the scooter because of the new disc brake variant as well as the new dual tone colour schemes with new graphics. The Yamaha Cygnus Alpha competes with the Honda Activa, TVS Wego, and the likes.
