Aprilia has revealed all the details and complete specifications of its new RS 660 sports bike. The Italian motorcycle manufacturer has also opened pre-bookings for the motorcycle in the European market. The Aprilia RS 660 is one of the most-awaited motorcycles in recent times.
Enthusiasts have been waiting for this sports bike since it first debuted almost two years ago at the 2018 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy. Since then, the motorcycle has been in development. It was spotted while undergoing testing several times which resulted in several spy images of the motorcycle surfacing on the internet.
Well, the time for speculation has ended and the brand has officially revealed the Aprilia RS 660. Much has already been spoken about the design details of the Aprilia RS 660. It has obviously taken inspiration from the flagship Aprilia RSV4 1100. Up-front is a twin-LED headlamp with LED DRLs.
It also boasts of a large fairing with aerodynamic elements. The rear-end is where the RSV4 influence is seen the most. Aprilia also revealed a new colour called ‘Acid Gold’ in addition to the Apex Black and Lava Red from earlier. The new colour features a unique shade of Gold with Red coloured wheels.
Powering the Aprilia RS 660 is a liquid-cooled, 660cc, parallel-twin engine with a maximum power output of 100bhp at 10,500rpm and a peak torque output of 67Nm at 8,500rpm. A 6-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel. The Aprilia RS 660 comes with top-spec electronics.
It features a six-axis IMU, traction control, wheelie control, cruise control, ABS, and five riding modes. The five riding modes that come with the sports bike are Commute, Dynamic, Individual (Customisable), Challenge and Time Attack.
The two latter modes are reserved for usage on the track while the three former modes are for road use. Aprilia claims that this motorcycle is a race bike for the road. As a result, it is extremely light, weighing in at just 169 kilograms. Pre-bookings for the Aprilia RS 660 are now open across Europe. Deliveries are expected to start soon.
Aprilia will be making a Tuono 660 based on this new 660 platform and we do know that many enthusiasts are waiting for that motorcycle too.
