Honda has patented the CBF190R in India. Yes you heard that right.  This means, the Honda CBF190R could possibly be launched in the Indian market sooner or later. However, it is interesting to know that the patent was filed on 21 June, 2019 and the Journal date was 06 March 2020.

Going by this timeline, it only makes sense that Honda should launch the motorcycle in India soon. The Honda CBF190R is one of the three motorcycles developed on the Honda 190 platform. The Honda 190 platform was developed in China in partnership with Sundiro.

Other than the Honda CBF190R, it also spawned the CBF190X, which is an urban ADV motorcycle and the CBF190TR which is a neo-retro scrambler. The three motorcycles have been doing reasonably well in the Chinese market. The 200cc segment in India is doing excellent in terms of sales volumes and it seems like Honda wants a piece of this pie.

The Honda CBF190R is a naked streetfighter motorcycle. The design and styling and even the riding posture are all aggressive. If launched in India, it will instantly become the best-looking motorcycle in the 200cc segment.

Up front is an LED headlamp with sharp cowling. The fuel-tank extensions are sharp and makes the bike look extremely stylish. It comes with a side-mounted exhaust system and a rather minimalistic rear-end.

The Honda CBF190R is powered by an air-cooled, 184.4cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine with a maximum power output of 16.62bhp and peak torque output of 16.3Nm. It has a claimed top-speed of 107 km/h.

An LCD screen handles instrumentation duties. Suspension duties are handled by a Gold-coloured upside-down fork up front and a mono-shock at the rear. Braking is taken care of by petal discs at both ends, assisted by dual-channel ABS.

The launch timeline is unknown at the moment. Given the current situation around the world, we’re not sure if Honda will even make this move. However, if they do intend to bring in the 190 to India, we would want the CBF190X. What do you think about it?
