The CFMoto 800 MT has been spotted testing. The motorcycle is based on the KTM 790 Adventure and uses the very capable platform to build an Adventure Tourer. The CFMoto 800 MT is expected to be launched in the first half of 2021.

CFMoto is one of the most-promising Chinese motorcycle manufacturers out there. It makes good-looking motorcycles that don’t really feel flimsy. They are in-fact well-built and are capable of giving some European motorcycles a run for their money.

In 2019, CFMoto openly expressed its intentions to enter the mid-weight segment in the European market. The Chinese brand intended to do this through the CFMoto 700CLX which was revealed in adventure, sports, and retro variants at the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show.

More recently though, the brand was rumoured to be working on a new model based on the KTM 790 Adventure. This motorcycle has now been spotted while undergoing camouflaged testing. The KTM 790 Adventure is one of the more capable mid-weight ADV motorcycles out there and the CFMoto 800 MT builds on that capability.

The spy image shows a fully camouflaged test mule. However, there are enough and more details that this image has revealed. It has got the stance of a proper adventure tourer. It rides on spoked wheels. Up front is an LED headlamp, and it comes with auxiliary lights as standard equipment. It also has large fairings and tank extensions on either side.

The KTM LC8 engine has been left exposed while it does receive a proper bash plate at the bottom. The image also shows large panniers on either side and a top box at the rear. The panniers and top box are camouflaged, which makes us believe that it could be part of the standard equipment on offer.

The CFMoto 800 MTwill be powered by the same liquid-cooled, 799cc, parallel-twin engine as the KTM 790 Adventure. It is expected to have a maximum power output of around 95bhp and a peak torque output of 88Nm. It will come with a decent amount of electronic riding aids too, including dual-channel ABS, traction control, riding modes, etc.

The CFMoto 800 MT is expected to be launched in the first half of 2021 and this could be the biggest launch of the year for CFMoto. KTM on the other hand has moved on from the 790 Adventure to the 890 Adventure series.
