The 2021 BMW R nineT and R nineT Scrambler have been launched in India. BMW Motorrad has priced the 2021 R nineT at Rs 18.50 lakh while the R nineT Scrambler has a price tag of Rs 16.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycles are BS6 emissions norms compliant and are available at all BMW Motorrad dealerships across India.

The BMW R nineT carries over the design and styling from the outgoing model. It features the same circular LED headlamp up front with a new twin-pod instrument cluster right above it. The upside-down fork up front is finished in a shade of Gold, which adds to the styling element of the motorcycle.

The fuel tank is large and voluptuous and comes in a dual-tone finish. The rear-end of the motorcycle is pretty simple with just the bare frame and seat. The tail-lamp, turn signal indicators and number plate are all mounted on the rear mudguard. The boxer engine too adds to the design element with its large cylinders sticking out on either side of the motorcycle.

BMW Motorrad is also offering a seat cowl to cover up the pillion seat of the R nineT. The BMW R nineT Scrambler is very similar, but as the name suggests, is more inclined to go off the beaten path. It rides on knobbly tyres, and the handlebar has been repositioned to allow the rider to stand-up on the footpegs and ride more comfortably.

The upside-down fork has been replaced by a telescopic unit and the rake has also seen an increase. The fuel tank gets attractive graphics options and the seat has been finished in Tan. The BMW R nineT Scrambler gets a typical scrambler-style raised dual- exhaust setup. Both motorcycles share the same mechanicals.

They are powered by the same air and oil-cooled, 1,170cc, flat-twin engine with a maximum power output of 107.2bhp at 7,250rpm and a peak torque output of 116Nm at 6,000rpm. A 6-speed gearbox drives the rear wheel via a shaft mechanism. The 2021 BMW R nineT and R nineT Scrambler both get a comprehensive electronics package.

BMW has equipped them with Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), ABS Pro, and two riding modes — Rain and Road. The BMW R nineT and R nineT Scrambler come with a three years & unlimited kilometres warranty. The brand is also offering several accessories for the two motorcycles.

Both motorcycles are being imported as CBUs ( Completely Built Units), which justifies the rather high price tag.
