Ducati showcased the updated Hypermotard 950 last year at the famous EICMA in Milan. And we’ve been waiting for it to reach at a dealership near us ever since. Well, our wait is finally going to be over pretty soon as Ducati India has announced that it will launch the new 2019 Hypermotard 950 on 12th June.

Ducati has done a few changes in the new ‘motard to make it a better bike than the outgoing 939. Although it has the same 937cc L-twin, Ducati has added 4 more horses and an additional Newton-metre taking the figures to 114hp and 96Nm. A lot of work has been done to get rid of the extra weight. The frame has been slightly revised by reducing the thickness of the steel tubes, new rims have been installed, lightweight Marzocchi forks with aluminium fork bodies/tubes have been used. Also, there are a few new lighter engine components which make the engine alone around 1.5kg lighter. The new Hypermotard 950 is total 4kg lighter.
For your electronic rider aids, you get a Bosch six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU), Bosch Cornering ABS with the Slide by Brake function, Ducati Traction Control EVO (DTC EVO), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down EVO. There is an SP version of the bike which is more performance oriented and gets a few more additional features.

The Hypermotard is one of the most beautiful bikes that we’ve ever seen. Perhaps, you would agree with us on this. However, its quirky design might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and maybe that’s the reason why we seldom spot it on Indian roads. And this makes it even a more desirable bike, a rare one. The outgoing 939 held a price tag of Rs 11.17 lakh (ex-showroom), so expect the new 950 to be on the dearer side.
