Benelli just pulled out another trick up its sleeve and is going to launch the Leoncino 250 in India on October 4th! While we were preparing ourselves for the launch of the Imperiale 400 later this month, Benelli caught us by surprise with this news. This clearly shows Benelli doesn’t want to play at backfoot this time.

Benelli Leoncino 250 is a younger sibling of the recently launched Leoncino 500. It shares a lot of parts and design cues with the 500 with a few minor differences. Powering the 250 is a 249cc, single-cylinder engine that makes around 25 bhp and 21 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. At this point, we don’t know whether this would be a BS6 compliant engine or not.

Benelli showcased the Leoncino 250 at the EICMA 2017 for the first time. Its original plan was to launch the 250 in India later in 2019, perhaps, after the launch of the Imperiale 400. But it seems Benelli decided to spice things up a little bit.

The Leoncino 250 is expected to be priced under Rs 2 lakh and that will make it the most affordable scrambler-type bike in the country. Its main rivals will be the 250 Duke, Gixxer 250, and Yamaha FZ-25.
