Royal Enfield has been working on giving its product line-up an overhaul from quite some time now, and we’re not talking about the BS6 update but the new models of Thunderbird X and Classic 350 which were spotted testing during the last quarter of 2019. However, latest developments tell us that perhaps that’s not the only models Royal Enfield is testing. There’s another one and we’ve got a few spy shots of the same.
The model in question here is something which we haven’t seen before; perhaps a new Royal Enfield altogether but it does share a handful of parts and components with the upcoming Thunderbird X, like headlight, suspension, fuel tank, instrument console, engine, alloy wheels, swingarm, etc.
What’s different about this motorcycle is that it looks sleeker and sportier which is unlike like other Royal Enfields. It has a single-seat design, a bit flatter. The taillight is slightly redesigned and sits a bit higher. Another key feature is the upward and sporty side-slung exhaust. All these features point towards an overall sportier RE.
Speculations are being made that this new RE will compete with the Jawa Forty Two. Right now, RE doesn’t have a direct rival to the Jawa. Yes, there is the Classic 350 which matches the Jawa in terms of pricing and nothing much more. Also, Royal Enfield has discontinued all its 500cc motorcycles and thus having a new and different bike will help the brand to expand its line-up once again.
We are expecting to get more details about this mystery bike from Royal Enfield in the coming weeks.
