Hero Electric showcased its first electric motorcycle AE-47 at the Auto Expo 2020. We already saw a couple of spy shots of the same but couldn’t grasp many details as the e-bike was covered. However, it isn’t anymore.

Hero Electric AE-47 looks like a conventional petrol-powered street bike. It features a round LED headlight small visor, single-piece tubular handlebar, split seats, and an attractive rear end. The engine space here is occupied by a lightweight portable lithium-ion 48V/3.5 kWh battery which provides a range of 85km in Power mode and 160km in Eco mode. It takes around four hours to fully charge the battery. Thanks to the 4kW electric motor, the AE-47 can achieve a top speed of 85km/h and does the 0-60km/h sprint in 9 seconds.

Speaking about the AE-47, Naveen Munjal, MD, Hero Electric, said, “This is positioned as a slightly premium product from our portfolio, and while we will continue to focus on mass-market electric vehicles, the AE-47 is a product which existing customers can aspire to upgrade to. It is a high-performance electric motorcycle and has a top speed of close to 100 km/h, and it’s a product which is premium and aspirational. Considering the strength of our network, we have lots of hopes for our new product range.”

Some of the other key features of the AE-47 are-
  • Digital dash
  • Keyless access
  • Mobile charger
  • Reverse function
  • Walk assist
  • Dedicated mobile app for GPS, GPRS, geofencing, real-time tracking

Although Hero Electric didn’t reveal any info regarding AE-47’s price, speculations say that it would fall in the Rs 1.25-1.50 lakh range. And if we are lucky, it will be launched pretty soon.

All prices are ex-showroom
