Yamaha took another big step towards BS6 conversion and unveiled the BS6 Yamaha FZ 25 at an event. Sharing the stage with the updated FZ 25 was the new FZS 25. So, just like we had FZ and FZ-S, now we will have FZ 25 and FZS 25.

In terms of looks, the updated BS6 FZ 25 isn’t that different from its BS4 counterpart. But to keep things fresh, there are some minor additions and changes done to the bike. They are-

  • Redesigned instrument cluster
  • Revamped belly pan
  • Revised LED headlight cluster
  • Two colour options – Metallic Black and Racing Blue

As far as the engine is concerned, it is the same 249cc, single which is now BS6 compliant. Thankfully, it produces almost the same amount of power and torque – 20.5 bhp and 20.1 Nm. The gearbox also remains the same 5-speed unit. In fact, the rest of the bike is as it was before. So no surprises there.

Speaking at the unveiling, Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India said, “Yamaha is determined to provide exciting two-wheeler experiences to the Indian customers, the one that has earned it a name to reckon with in the whole world. The Unique Style of Yamaha is well-crafted in all the current line up from the company.”

“While the new FZ 25 will command street adventure with a new heart revving experience, the company’s objective to set the global racing excitement into Indian roads will close into a proportionate wholeness. In future, the company will look forward to bring more excitement on board as a part of its brand commitment in India.”

The BS6 FZS 25 is exactly the same bike as the BS6 FZ. The extra bits that it would get are a pair of knuckle guards and a longer visor. It also gets different colour options-

  • Dark Cyan with gold-coloured alloy wheels
  • Dark Blue with gold-coloured alloy wheels
  • Metallic White with black alloy wheels

It is being anticipated that Yamaha will launch the new BS6 FZ 25 and BS6 FZS 25 in April, the same month when the BS6 emission norms will kick in. Regarding the prices, the current FZ 25 retails at Rs 1.33 lakh. So, its updated model will certainly be more expensive than that. We are expecting a hike of around Rs 3,000-5,000.

All prices are ex-showroom
