Piaggio India may launch its Aprilia Storm 125 in April this year. Ashish Yakhmi, the Head at Piaggio India (Two-Wheelers Business), had previously stated that the new scooter could be launched anytime in the first quarter of 2019. The delay may have been due to the unsold stocks of the Aprilia SR125 across multiple dealerships. According to reports, bookings may start from the 1st of April with the launch expected in the third week of the month. Deliveries could start soon after the launch as well.

The scooter was shown at Auto Expo 2018 and is majorly based on the SR125 with sportier design tweaks like new graphics, accessories (optional) and matte paint options. There are dual-purpose knobby tyres on offer along with 12-inch alloy wheels. The production version may also get an optional tall windscreen.

There will be a 124.49 cc engine that makes 9.51 BHP and 9.8 Nm. This engine will be mated to a CVT unit. There will be disc and drum brakes at the front and rear respectively while CBS will be a standard feature. The Storm 125 will be slotted below the SR125 which is priced at around INR 67,085 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Prices could be around INR 65,000 (ex-showroom) for the Aprilia Storm 125.
