While we are still waiting for KTM to launch the 390 Adventure, reports are suggesting that KTM is interested in bringing the 790 Adventure in the country. As per our colleagues at Autocar India, KTM has scheduled the launch of 790 Adventure for the end of 2020.

Launched a few months ago, KTM 790 Duke received criticism for its high price tag of Rs 8.63 lakh (ex-showroom). Although we are not judging, considering the other motorcycles in the segment, it does seem too steep for a twin-cylinder motorcycle. So when the Duke itself is so expensive, it’s quite obvious that its Adventure variant will be much heavier on the pocket.

Apparently, KTM is working to offer better prices to its customers. At present, the 790 Duke comes in India via the CKD route and has minimal local content. This is one of the reasons for its high price and also leads to limited spare parts availability. KTM wants to get as much localisation as possible and create a strong network to address these issues. This strategy will also help KTM to keep the BS4-BS6 conversion cost at a minimum.

Just like the 390 Duke and 390 Adventure, the 790 Duke and 790 Adventure share many parts and components. Both of them are powered by a 799cc, parallel-twin engine that produces 94 hp and 88 Nm of torque. For the Adventure, the seat height has been increased to 850mm, we have a 200mm of suspension travel at both ends, 223mm of massive ground clearance, and a 20-litre fuel tank.

We would, of course, like to see the 790 Adventure to be made available in India, but before that, we are eagerly and impatiently waiting for the 390 Adventure to hit the dealerships!
