There is a lot to talk about the new KTM 390 Adventure. We just got the bike for a ride review and while we are working to get that out, it is quite interesting to know that the India Spec 2025 KTM 390 Adventure and International Spec KTM 390 Adventure have some significant differences. These make the India sped KTM 390 Adventure get the ‘S’ moniker behind its name. Lets get into the details.
Suspension & Ground Clearance
- India-spec 390 Adventure S uses WP Apex USD front forks and mono‑shock tuned for 200 mm front and 205 mm rear travel—identical to the Adventure X—dropping seat height to ~830 mm with ~227 mm ground clearance.
- International-spec features longer travel: 230 mm front and rear—same as the R model—with seat height ~870–890 mm and ground clearance ~272 mm .
Wheels & Tyres
- The India-spec S rolls on 21‑in front & 17‑in rear spoke wheels with Apollo Tramplr tyres—Off‑road focused with tubeless spoke setup.
- The global 390 ADV and its R variant also use 21‑in spokes but are typically equipped with Mitas Enduro Trail tyres; with tubeless spoke setup.
Weight
- India-spec S is heavier due to local setup and accessories—around 183 kg kerb.
- International-spec weight sits closer to 165 kg dry (~180 kg kerb) for the 390 ADV and its R version.
Feature Parity
- Both share the 399 cc LC4c engine (~45 bhp / 39 Nm), slipper clutch, bi-directional quickshifter, TFT screen, cruise control, cornering ABS/traction control, and ride modes.
- Electronics and UI are largely identical—main differences are mechanical (suspension/travel/weight).
The India spec 2025 KTM 390 Adventure S is tailored for local riders and traffic environments—more accessible, lower seat and a softer setup.
The international 390 Adventure and its R variant is optimized for tougher off-road terrain—taller, stiffer, lighter, more capable.
