If there is one international motorcycle brand that is severely underrated in India it has to be Moto Guzzi. More often than not always playing second fiddle to its own sister brand, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi surely could use a shot of adrenaline to the heart to bolster its Indian presence. And Moto Guzzi are planning to bring in the 2015 Moto Guzzi V7 II to India to do just this. The Moto Guzzi V7 II is a 744 cc, 90° V-Twin that produces 46.9 HP at 6200 RPM and 60 Nm of torque at 2800 RPM. The motorcycle weighs 189 kg kerb and is shaft driven. A very interesting addition to the V7 II is the dual channel ABS system and Moto Guzzi’s patented traction control. The traction control being a much needed component considering the amount of torque this machine is able to deliver at such a low RPM. The gearbox is a 6 speed one and braking is handled by Brembo’s at both ends. The Moto Guzzi V7 II comes in three versions, the V7 Stone, the V7 Special and the V7 Racer. All three versions of the Moto Guzzi V7 II have the same engine, the difference coming mainly in design. The price for the Moto Guzzi V7 II Stone, the base version lies at about 6 lakhs in Italy. Moto Guzzi should target an India on road price tag of sub 10 lakh for the V7 II Stone if it wants to make any serious inroads in sales numbers. And that is going to be tough to achieve as well, considering that the company still does not have a CKD operation in India. So all the bikes coming are CBU’s, which means our tax laws are going to come down hard on it. Lets hope Moto Guzzi figures it out.
