It wasn’t only the KTM 390 Adventure that was showcased at the IBW 2019, sharing the stage with it was its elder sibling, the 790 Adventure, which was successful in grabbing a lot of attention.
The 790 Adventure is clearly a bigger and more capable ADV motorcycle than the 390 Adventure and, perhaps, KTM showcased it here to gauge the response it gets from the people.
Powering the 790 Adventure is a 799cc, parallel-twin that produces 94 PS and 88 Nm of torque. It is the same engine that is used in the 790 Duke which has been launched in India recently.
Just like the 790 Duke, the 790 Adventure gets an extensive electronics package that includes various rider aids like traction control, cornering ABS, multiple riding modes, lean angle system, and also a quickshifter. There’s an off-road mode as well which is specifically programmed for the 790 Adventure to do its thing where there’s no tarmac.

There is also an R variant of the 790 Adventure that’s available in the international markets, however, we don’t think KTM is interested in bringing that to India.
Regarding the launch of the 790 Adventure, there’s no official statement from KTM but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. We are expecting it to reach the dealerships by the end of 2020. But right now, we are waiting for the 390 Adventure to get launched. Perhaps, KTM will also take in data about how the 390 Adventure is doing in the market and then make a decision to bring the 790 Adventure in the country or not.
