Xiaomi has unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max globally and the two new handsets bring back the brand’s distinct dual-screen setup while packing major updates under the hood, including Qualcomm’s latest flagship processors, 200 MP Leica-branded camera setups, massive battery capacities, and a new built-in Smart Privacy Display.
Both models are currently available for pre-order on the Xiaomi China store and will officially go on sale starting 28 September 2026.
Smart Privacy Screen and Dual Display Tech
While the front and back design remains similar to the previous Xiaomi 17 Pro series, both handsets feature updated display hardware and privacy tech:
- Primary Screen: The Xiaomi 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch 1.5K TCL M11 Super Pixel 2.0 Real RGB LTPO OLED display (2436 x 1120 pixels). The Pro Max steps up to a larger 6.9-inch 1.5K panel (2624 x 1208 pixels). Both screens offer a 120 Hz refresh rate, 2,160 Hz PWM dimming, 2,100 nits HBM brightness, up to 4,000 nits peak brightness, BT.2020 support, ultra-thin 0.99mm bezels, and Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 protection.
- Smart Privacy Display: Both models incorporate a Smart Privacy Screen feature, designed to narrow side viewing angles to stop onlookers from viewing sensitive content on screen.
- Rear Displays: The rear camera bump retains a functional secondary screen. The standard Pro gets a 2.7-inch TCL 120 Hz OLED rear display, while the Pro Max gets a slightly larger 2.9-inch TCL 120 Hz OLED panel. Both rear screens reach 4,000 nits peak brightness and support BT.2020.
Processor and Thermal Cooling Differences
For this generation, Xiaomi has interestingly separated the two models when it comes to internal power and cooling setups:
- Xiaomi 18 Pro: Driven by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, backed by a 4,355 mm sq. Vapor Chamber (VC) cooling system.
- Xiaomi 18 Pro Max: Powered by the more robust Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, supported by a larger 5,513 mm sq. VC cooling system.
Both devices are paired with LPDDR5X RAM (9600 Mbps) and UFS 4.1 storage. Supporting the main processor, Xiaomi has built in its proprietary Surge P4 and Surge G2 chips, along with the Xiaomi T1 and T1+ chips.
200 MP Leica Camera System
Both flagships share a triple rear camera array tuned by Leica:
- Primary Camera: 200 MP Light Hunter 960L primary sensor (1/1.28-inch, OIS, LOFIC). The Pro Max uses SCC90XS tuning, while the Pro model features SCC80XS.
- Telephoto Lens: 200 MP HP5 periscope telephoto lens featuring 3.2x optical zoom, a 75mm focal length, and a 12cm minimum focusing distance.
- Ultra-Wide Lens: 50 MP OV51D ultra-wide camera (1/2.88-inch sensor, 17mm focal length).
- Selfie Camera: 50 MP OV50M front-facing shooter (1/2.88-inch sensor).
Battery, Fast Charging, and Extras
Battery capacity represents another key differentiator between the two handsets:
- Battery & Power: The Xiaomi 18 Pro packs a 7,000 mAh battery, whereas the Pro Max carries an 8,500 mAh cell. Both support 100W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, 27W reverse wired charging, and reverse wireless charging.
- Durability & Audio: The standard Pro gets dual stereo speakers, a 7414 haptic motor, and IP69/IP68/IP66 ratings. The Pro Max upgrades to three stereo speakers, a 0916C haptic motor, and an IP69 rating.
- Connectivity & Hardware: Both include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, UWB, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, an IR blaster, and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
- Software: Both run Android 17 with HyperOS 4 out of the box, featuring Super Xiaomi AI 2.0 and Xiaomi MiMo AI LM.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro series comes in Black, White, Pink, and Blue colourways, alongside special Transparent Limited Edition variants.
